Hello, and a very warm welcome to you from sunny Belize. My name is David Kafka, and I am currently enjoying Paradise. Many of you may ask yourselves: should I relocate? Where is the safest place? Is it profitable? Is it safe to invest out of our native countries? Obviously, the lifestyle became unsatisfactory with the high cost of living such as insurance, taxes, and living the ¨rat race,¨ which made me think it was time to relocate.
Don’t get me wrong; I was a Firefighter/Engineer for the Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Fire Department. I enjoyed serving my community, through the fire department, for 12 years. After working in the Fire Department, I established my landscaping company, Supergreen Inc., in Charleston, South Carolina. My business was successful for 15 years; thus, I looked into investing outside of the States.
My wife, daughter, and I came to Belize on February 7th, 2006, looking for investment and vacation. I fell in LOVE with the country, the people, the culture, and the way of life. It was then that I knew we had to relocate. In February 2009, we happily left home. My family and I have lived here ever since, and we LOVE it!
Before I invested here, I did a lot of due diligence and research on how safe it is to own property, sell it and live here. And that process brought me to what I do now. I am the Broker/Owner of RE/MAX 1st Choice in Placencia, Hopkins, and Corozal. We have agents that service the whole country. My other company is Caribbean Capital Group. I help people invest/own hard assets passively while also investing in this beautiful country I am now a citizen of.
Giving Back
I am passionate about giving back to the community and making a difference in the lives of others.
My team and I have donated two motorcycles to the police department, a camcorder, a tripod, and 13 SD cards to the police major crimes unit to record interrogations for court. I volunteer with the Placencia Volunteer Fire Department and am a “Fire Board” member, which builds new fire stations and soon the first trauma center in Placencia Village. I recently was featured on RE/MAX’s corporate website for donating fire trucks to the Belize community with the help of Believe in Belize and the U.S. Air Force.
As a volunteer for Believe in Belize, I support Belizeans through education, health, and community development by partnering with other organizations to deliver high-impact projects and services.
A former member on the board Placencia Humane Society (PHS) where I served nearly five years as a chairman and a board member about the same number of years.
By donating, you will support David Kafka's vision of expanding health services in different communities.
